Wine for Dummies

I love wine. We love wine. Why? I could think of a hundred and one reasons but call it shallowness but I love it because it makes me feel cultured and polish! Hahaha I know I could get very vain ;) Humor me and just indulge me, ok.
Wine has a meaningfulness no other beverage possesses – beyond water. Its history, culture and charm rolled into one. Say thank you – a bottle of wine - an ultimate gesture of fine taste, class and hospitality. There is always an occasion fit for a wine. Having a Friday night pizza? Bring out the bottle of Shiraz. An anniversary of a milestone, one glass of bubbly please... Perhaps you have a horrible day and the only thing that would save the day is a cozy evening with your amore over a glass of wine to wash all the cares away.

Wine brings out the flavor or food. And it is good for you. Research shows that 1 glass of wine (for women) and 2 glasses (for men) per day can have health benefits. The antioxidants in red wine reduce the instances of heart attacks and strokes. I am not saying I have a glass every day, but whenever I have one, I savor it and let its rich flavors roll my tongue. And yes I still dream of one day, yes someday, maybe soon, maybe later in the future I would be able to share a glass of wine with mi amore and a tour in the winery with my wine tasting friends, share a walk through the sprawling vineyards, enjoy the art or sculpture gallery while enjoying the perfectly paired flavors of good food and excellent wine. It is truly a joy to be engaged and appreciating life; and wine is the enabler. But for now I will wake up in my dream and be content to have this at home.

Singapore JBP

Hubby and I love unplanned outings. So last Saturday after we had our medical checkup, we have another one of those moments. While having our late breakfast and early lunch (I think they call it brunch ;) after fasting for more than 10 hours (doctor’s order for blood sampling), I asked Hubs if he had been to JBP.

Me: Have you been to JBP?
Hubs: What’s JBP?
Me: Jurong Bird Park (with a sheepish grin)
Hubs: Nope.
Me: You want to go?
Hubs: Sure!
Me: Tara!

So here is our afternoon adventure at Jurong Bird Park

We were greeted by colorful macaw near the park's entrance

family picture? ;)

cute parakeets
charming ms. ostrich

And we even spotted two new bird species...

love birds cheeezzzy...

Ostrich family??? ;)

You know how Singapore weather is, its sunny, the next minute is rains...
It was raining but the Show still go on...

Though Mrs. Hornbill (not shown in picture) was not so cooperative,
but Mr. Parrot here wowed the audience including
the Pres. of Banglades (among the audience)

We ended the day with a refreshing mango drink :)

To Get to the BirdPark, we took the EW Line from Jurong East Interchange going to Joo Koon and we alighted at Boon Lay Station. At the Boon Lay Bus Interchange, we took the bus 251 all the way to the park :) Tickets are at:
Adults with the Tram Ride : 23 SGD
Adults Entrance only : 18 SGD

We opted for entrance only because hubs said, if we take the Tram then we have to hop on and off the tram to get up close and personal with the birds. And if you are NTUC members you get additional 30% discount :) yay! sweet.

Hope you find time to explore JBP.

OOTD

Today, I’m doing my first (and hopefully not the last) OOTD (Outfit of the Day) post.  This is my outfit last Sunday afternoon (April 1) shopping with hubs. I am not a fashionista.  Sure I love Prada and Chanel as much as the next girl, and of course shopping (who doesn’t?).  I do coordinate my colors, but on the whole my fashion creations could never be described as fantastic.

So why am I doing an OOTD post?  Well I feel and think I am entering premature middle-age.    Wahahaha…And I read somewhere that one of the clear signs and symptoms of mid-life crisis is wanting to make some changes but don’t know where to begin.  As I have posted earlier about writing resolutions, I want to make lifestyle changes…So probably posting pictures of myself through blogging would make me more self-conscious of whether I have achieved my lifestyle change of living a healthier lifestyle.  And dahil nakikiuso din po ako ;) I mean most blogs have outfit of the day posts, so that I won’t feel so middle-age, then might as well join the fad!!!  :D :D :D So without further ado..TADAH!!!!

Brown Ipanema Ritmos Sandals, Blue Naraya Bag (Flea Market Find @only SGD2), Brown Denim Mini-skirt(Flea Market Find @only SGD2), Bohemian Top from Dumaguete, Pink Esprit Watch (hubby’s gift) and my ever trusty Gucci shades.

Think I might be loving this OOTD thingy ;)
